Senior Machine Learning Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary: $200,000–$245,000 annually, depending on US pay zone. The role is also eligible for 5,000 stock options and an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a machine learning engineering team through career development, mentoring, feedback, hiring, and conflict resolution.
• Manage a portfolio of machine learning experiments, deciding which hypotheses receive compute, headcount, further iteration, or a documented stop.
• Balance near-term model improvement commitments with longer-term research bets and adjust priorities as evidence develops.
• Establish rigorous evaluation practices so offline results predict online behavior across rolling evaluation windows.
• Drive independent experimental workstreams toward end-to-end evaluation, release candidates, and production delivery.
• Partner with Risk, platform, and infrastructure engineering teams and communicate results to engineering and company leadership.

Requirements

• Approximately 5+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or ML-adjacent software engineering.
• At least 3 years of people management experience, including career development, conflict resolution, and building high-performing teams.
• Strong depth in either engineering or applied statistics, with working competence in the other.
• Experience leading ambiguous work, setting direction under uncertainty, changing course based on evidence, and communicating decisions clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, autonomy, and a strong commitment to correctness, reproducibility, and reliability.
