Youth Safety Expert (Contract)

What you will do

• Roleplay youth-facing scenarios with AI agents and red-team child and adolescent safety edge cases.
• Identify distress, vulnerability, coercion, grooming, unsafe influence, age-inappropriate content, and model failure modes.
• Evaluate AI conversations and responses for age-appropriateness, tone, clarity, harm prevention, and policy compliance.
• Develop youth-specific behavioral taxonomies, personas, evaluation rubrics, and qualitative analyses.
• Provide expert feedback on child protection policies and collaborate with engineering, research, and safety teams on safeguards.
• Document edge cases and emerging risks while maintaining confidentiality, quality assurance, and ethical standards.

Requirements

• Background in education, child development, youth services, psychology, social work, or a related field, or demonstrated familiarity with youth gaming and online culture.
• Experience working with children, adolescents, or teen communities.
• Understanding of age-appropriate communication, boundaries, youth safety, consent, and power dynamics.
• Familiarity with online platforms, gaming ecosystems, or youth-oriented digital spaces.
• Ability to evaluate conversational content and nuanced social interactions and work remotely with Slack, LLM tools, and Google Docs.
• Willingness to sign NDAs and work with sensitive or youth-related content; availability of 10–40 hours per week while assigned to a project.

Nice to have

• Professional experience in K–12 education, higher education, informal learning, child safety, trust and safety, moderation, or community management.
• Experience with vulnerable youth populations, youth mental health, crisis response, online harm prevention, behavioral labeling, or policy enforcement.
• Familiarity with gaming culture, livestreaming, esports, Discord, Twitch, Reddit, and other online communities.
• Strong cultural awareness of evolving youth trends, slang, and social norms.
