Domain Expert in Residence (AI)

Nomic builds domain-specific AI agents for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction teams across drawing reviews, takeoffs, code compliance, RFIs, submittals, specifications, QA/QC, coordination, and project documentation.

What you will do

• Define real-world AEC task specifications for AI agents across drawing reviews, code compliance, RFIs, submittals, specifications, QA/QC, and coordination.
• Create and label gold-standard datasets from drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project artifacts.
• Design evaluation rubrics covering severity, discipline, correctness, and usefulness of agent outputs.
• Co-design default workflows that are shipped to customers.
• Pressure-test AI agents against real project scenarios and common failure modes.
• Partner with product, ML, and engineering teams to translate AEC practice into scalable AI systems.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in architecture, structural engineering, MEP engineering, construction or project management, QA/QC, or code compliance.
• Deep familiarity with real AEC workflows and project deliverables.
• Ability to clearly articulate how AEC work is performed in practice.
• Curiosity about AI tools and automation; an ML background is not required.
• Motivation to shape the future of AEC tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with QA/QC processes or design reviews.
• Familiarity with building codes such as IBC, ADA, NFPA, and local codes.
• Experience writing standards, checklists, or internal review frameworks.
• Interest in product development.
