What you will do

• Act as the primary security partner for the Walrus team, providing architectural guidance and embedding security practices from design phase.
• Lead security assessments for new features and contribute to security initiatives across the Mysten ecosystem.
• Drive a security-by-design culture ensuring security considerations precede code development.
• Leverage AI-driven tools and automation to identify and remediate security issues.
• Provide strategic oversight on infrastructure and product security impacting Walrus and broader organization.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to prioritize security roadmap balancing feature velocity and security posture.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers, setting technical direction and best practices for security standards.

Requirements

• Must be located in the United States (remote within US only).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of industry experience in security engineering at Staff (E6) level or equivalent.
• Extensive experience as a security generalist across infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security.
• Proficiency in building and managing automated security tooling, including AI/ML or advanced analysis techniques.
• Strong communication skills to influence technical direction and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Nice to have

• Technical understanding of decentralized storage, distributed systems, or Web3 stack.
• Experience leading security-focused transformations or implementing security-by-design frameworks.
• Ability to balance tactical security work with strategic planning and leadership.
