Database Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote; applicants from any country are welcome if located within approximately ±4 hours of CET.

What you will do

• Own and operate AWS Aurora PostgreSQL databases in a high-load production environment.
• Design schemas, partitioning strategies, indexing, and query optimization for payments, customers, subscriptions, and event data.
• Investigate performance issues involving lock contention, vacuuming, connection pools, and long-running queries.
• Build high-performance search solutions for large operational datasets used by internal CRM tools.
• Work with Tinybird and ClickHouse analytics and logging pipelines, deciding which data belongs in transactional or analytical stores.
• Monitor database health, maintain data integrity, execute large-table migrations, and support backups, replication, disaster recovery, and incident analysis.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on production experience with PostgreSQL and AWS-based infrastructure, ideally AWS Aurora.
• Experience managing large databases with hundreds of millions of rows or more.
• Strong understanding of indexing, query planners, execution paths, transactions, isolation levels, and locking.
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex database performance issues.
• Availability for collaboration within approximately ±4 hours of CET.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, billing, fintech, or financial systems.
• Experience with ClickHouse, Tinybird, OpenSearch, or similar technologies.
• Experience with multi-tenant data models, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines.
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Database Specialty.
