TL;DR
Medical Subject Matter Expert (SME) -ON-CALL (Child and Family Medical Care): Supporting medical compliance, training, technical assistance, and inspections for facilities serving detained immigrant children and families with an accent on healthcare standards and regulatory compliance. Focus on analyzing medical trends, conducting virtual or onsite inspections, reporting life-safety issues, and developing inspection tools, policies, and compliance reports.

Location: Nationwide remote within the United States; travel to Texas is required. The role may include travel to inspection sites and monthly three-day inspections.

Salary: $81,499.00–$138,549.00 annual full-time equivalent pay range.

What you will do

  • Provide medical and health subject matter expertise to the Juvenile Family Management Division project.
  • Conduct authorized medical and health inspections of family residential centers and juvenile facilities, either onsite or virtually.
  • Report serious compliance, life-safety, and medical issues to the inspection lead.
  • Support facility trend analysis, technical assistance, staff training, and programmatic support.
  • Prepare compliance briefings, monthly and annual reports, special reports, and recommendations.
  • Develop, review, and update handbooks, policies, procedures, inspection tools, and other project resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience providing medical health services to diverse populations, including adolescents and children.
  • Ability to travel to Texas and potentially to other inspection sites.
  • Knowledge of medical and health standards, compliance reviews, and inspection processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and changing needs in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of migrant and refugee issues, particularly migrant families and unaccompanied children.
  • Previous consulting experience.
