Pre-Construction Senior Project Manager (Data Centers)

Location: San Francisco, CA, US; on-site

Salary: $205,000–$220,000 per year plus bonus; restricted stock units included.

What you will do

• Lead the full pre-construction lifecycle from conceptual design through the start of onsite construction.
• Develop project schedules, multi-million-dollar budgets, risk assessments, and feasibility reports.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners to optimize design, cost, and constructability.
• Evaluate sites, prepare bid packages, oversee competitive bidding, and analyze contractor proposals.
• Negotiate high-value contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Identify risks and scope gaps, implement mitigation plans, and coordinate the handoff to the onsite construction team.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of dedicated pre-construction management experience on large-scale, complex projects.
• Strong background in construction processes, materials, methods, and mission-critical project delivery.
• Experience managing multiple high-priority workstreams with strong budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with executives, local officials, technical trades, and vendors.
• Expertise with construction management software and scheduling tools such as P6 or MS Project.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of large-scale development experience in data centers, oil and gas, or hospitals.
• 10+ years in hyperscale data centers or high-tech infrastructure.
• PMP, LEED AP, or equivalent professional construction certification.
• Experience with BIM for pre-construction accuracy and clash detection.
• Experience in sustainable construction or renewable energy integration.
