Data Science Consultant (Power BI)

What you will do

• Lead Power BI and analytics engagements from requirements gathering through delivery and iteration.
• Act as the primary client contact, facilitate KPI and reporting workshops, and manage timelines and deliverables across concurrent projects.
• Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports using data storytelling, usability, and performance best practices.
• Build optimized star-schema data models, develop DAX measures, and use Power Query to transform data from multiple sources.
• Establish data refresh and performance optimization strategies while troubleshooting data, visualization, and scalability issues.
• Present insights and recommendations, advise on data strategy and governance, and support adoption through training and documentation.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in data analytics, BI development, or related roles.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on Power BI experience with advanced expertise in data modeling and visualization.
• Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data transformation techniques.
• Experience leading end-to-end reporting or dashboard initiatives and working with SQL, APIs, warehouses, Excel, and other data sources.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and prioritization skills.
• Must be based in the United States for this remote role.

Nice to have

• Consulting or client-facing experience.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Azure, Google BigQuery, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipelines.
• Experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, governance, deployment pipelines, or Power BI Service administration.
• Experience supporting construction, capital projects, or data center environments.
