3D Machine Learning Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Must be based in Irvine, CA (On-site)

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable machine learning pipelines for 3D spatial data processing, including point cloud analysis and object detection.
• Train, optimize, and deploy deep learning models using frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with software and systems engineers to integrate models into production environments and improve inference pipelines.
• Analyze diverse sensor inputs such as RGBD imagery, LiDAR, 360 photos, and Building Information Models (BIM).
• Work with data operations teams to define robust annotation strategies for high model performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of industry experience developing ML systems for 3D point clouds, perception, or spatial understanding.
• Strong background in 3D machine learning, deep learning for point clouds, or geometric learning.
• Expertise in Python and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, SageMaker) and containerized workflows.
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including model versioning and production optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience with BIM data, digital twins, or geometric computer vision.
• Familiarity with MLOps pipelines (Ray, MLflow, Kubeflow).
• Exposure to graph neural networks, NeRF, or 3D transformers.
• Experience with point cloud frameworks like Open3D-ML or PyG.
