External Audit Manager (Healthcare Compliance)

Location: Remote; travel up to 25% as needed

What you will do

• Coordinate regulatory, payer, Medicaid, CMS, OIG, state agency, accrediting body, and other external audits and reviews.
• Manage audit timelines, logistics, document requests, evidence collection, stakeholder follow-up, and submission readiness.
• Prepare responses to audit findings, Statements of Deficiency, requests for information, and related correspondence.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and validate corrective action plans, including ownership, timelines, evidence, and sustainable remediation.
• Conduct root cause analyses, identify recurring findings and control gaps, and support operational process improvements.
• Maintain audit repositories, evidence files, response trackers, and CAP logs, and present audit risks and remediation progress to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, legal studies, compliance, or a related field.
• At least eight years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, auditing, quality assurance, Medicaid, managed care, or home health/home care operations.
• Knowledge of Medicaid-funded home care regulations, healthcare compliance requirements, audit methodology, survey processes, and documentation standards.
• Strong risk assessment, investigation, root cause analysis, document control, project management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage confidential and regulatory documentation and multiple audits, deadlines, stakeholders, and evidence requests.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds, as well as bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach.

Nice to have

• Experience managing external audits, Medicaid/CMS or state agency reviews, Statement of Deficiency responses, CAP development, and corrective action tracking.
• CHC, CHPC, CCEP, or similar compliance certification.
