Head of Compliance (Crypto)

Location: Remote from anywhere in the US and Canada; New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are also listed.

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 annual base salary, plus potential on-target earnings and equity.

What you will do

• Build and operate the compliance program, including governance, controls, priorities, and operating cadence.
• Draft and implement policies and procedures across financial crime, securities, privacy, marketing, employment, and anti-corruption.
• Establish compliance testing, monitoring, reporting, escalation, and governance processes.
• Support regulatory registrations, examinations, audits, and related information requests.
• Partner with Legal, Product, Engineering, Finance, People, and commercial teams to integrate compliance into daily operations.
• Use AI and automation to improve monitoring, reporting, policy management, and compliance workflows.

Requirements

• Experience building, significantly developing, or materially improving a compliance program.
• Broad compliance expertise across multiple domains, including policies, controls, monitoring, testing, training, reporting, and governance.
• Experience supporting regulatory registrations, examinations, audits, or similar engagements.
• Ability to set strategy while executing hands-on work in a growing company without relying on a mature compliance function.
• Strong judgement and ability to provide practical guidance, escalate concerns, and make clear risk-based decisions.
• Must be able to work remotely from the United States or Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with crypto, digital assets, or onchain financial products.
• Compliance designation such as CAMS, CRCM, or CCEP.
• Experience working with relevant regulators.
• Experience using AI, automation, or data tooling in compliance.
