Senior Expert Application Development (Python/React)

Location: Hybrid in Sofia, Bulgaria

What you will do

• Refactor and modularise codebases to support migration of the ETL/ELT and analysis platform to distributed services.
• Build, maintain, and integrate REST APIs and application services.
• Develop new features and improve existing functionality across backend and frontend components.
• Work with data models, PostgreSQL, ArangoDB, and Pydantic-based schemas.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering practices focused on maintainability and robustness.

Requirements

• Professional experience with Python, preferably Flask or FastAPI, and SQL databases.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong unit and integration testing experience.
• Comfort with Linux, Docker, GitHub, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with microservices or distributed architectures.
• Fluent or professional Bulgarian in written and spoken communication, plus communicative English.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Redux, HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Kotlin experience.
• Data visualisation and data pipeline tools such as pandas and numpy.
• Graph databases such as ArangoDB or Neo4j.
• Legacy codebase modernisation and refactoring experience.
