R&D Tax Senior Manager (R&D Tax & Patent Box)

What you will do

• Lead technical advisory work on SME and large-company R&D tax reliefs, including RDEC, and the UK Patent Box regime.
• Own senior client relationships, lead complex engagements, and maintain delivery quality, client satisfaction, and retention.
• Act as the final escalation point for high-risk or complex claims, providing technical direction and sign-off.
• Lead, manage, and mentor approximately five or more senior consultants through feedback, training, and knowledge sharing.
• Oversee claim delivery, resourcing, profitability, project execution, quality, risk, and governance across a client portfolio.
• Support business development, recruitment, practice development, and thought leadership in R&D tax and Patent Box services.

Requirements

• Degree in a STEM discipline or Finance/Accounting.
• Significant experience in R&D tax, corporate taxation, or a related field, including at least four years in a managerial role.
• Experience with HMRC is essential.
• Professional-services experience advising on both R&D tax reliefs and the UK Patent Box regime.
• Experience leading complex client engagements, managing senior stakeholders, and developing senior consultants.
• Strong understanding of R&D tax credits, SME and RDEC schemes, tax legislation, analytical work, project management, and client communication.

Nice to have

• ATT or CTA professional qualification.
• APM or PRINCE2 project management qualification.
