Senior Java Developer (Calypso)

Location: Porto, Portugal — hybrid work. Valid existing legal right to work in the European Union is required.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications within the Calypso framework for collateral and cash management.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Integrate Calypso with banking systems and tools across the technology ecosystem.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve application performance, security, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, establish development best practices, and support quality standards.
• Implement regulatory compliance requirements and maintain audit-ready, traceable systems.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of Java development experience in a financial or banking environment.
• Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, REST, microservices architecture, and modern Java frameworks.
• Solid understanding of investment banking operations, particularly collateral and cash management.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills in an international team.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
• Existing legal right to work in the European Union is mandatory.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Calypso, including customization and integration.
• Certifications in Java or financial software.
• Familiarity with MiFID, EMIR, or Dodd-Frank regulatory frameworks.
