Senior Media Relations Lead (Semiconductors)

Location: Washington, D.C., US; hybrid role with an expectation to work from the hirify.global D.C. office at least three days per week.

Base annual salary: $110,250–$161,700.

hirify.global manufactures chip-making equipment and develops semiconductor lithography technology used to produce advanced semiconductors.

What you will do

• Lead hirify.global media relations in Washington, D.C., covering semiconductors, technology policy, trade, national security, industrial policy and geopolitics.
• Build relationships with U.S. and international journalists and develop proactive media strategies supporting business, reputation and government affairs priorities.
• Monitor industry, technology and policy developments, identify media opportunities and reputational risks, and advise stakeholders.
• Write and review media statements, talking points, Q&A, briefing materials and executive communications on complex or sensitive issues.
• Arrange interviews and briefings, prepare senior executives for media engagement, and translate technical, business and policy topics for external audiences.
• Partner with U.S. Government Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Communications and global Media Relations; measure results and refine strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Significant professional experience in media relations, strategic communications, public affairs communications or journalism, including direct engagement with national, international, business or technology media.
• Experience communicating about semiconductors or another highly complex technology sector, with the ability to translate technical concepts, business implications and policy considerations accurately.
• Experience communicating on public policy, government affairs, international trade, national security, industrial policy and/or geopolitical issues.
• Strong writing experience covering messaging, media statements, talking points, Q&A, briefing materials and executive communications.
• Experience advising senior leaders on communications strategy, reputation or sensitive external issues.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to influence and build trust across a complex, international organization.
• Ability to process new information quickly, exercise sound judgment and adapt strategies in uncertain or fast-moving situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States Export Administration Regulations before beginning work.

Nice to have

• Direct semiconductor industry experience and knowledge of the global semiconductor ecosystem.
• Established relationships with Washington, D.C.-based national and international media covering semiconductors, technology, trade, national security, economic policy or international affairs.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment, advanced manufacturing, AI infrastructure, aerospace/defense, telecommunications, hardware or another highly technical and globally regulated industry.
• Working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, equipment, global supply chains and the related policy environment.
• Experience in a multinational technology company, trade association, government or public affairs environment, communications agency or major media organization.
• Experience managing high-profile, sensitive or issues-driven media communications.
