Senior ELK & Java Observability Engineer (ELK/Java)

Location: Hybrid work in Lisbon or Porto, with up to 3 remote days per week. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Tech Lead on architecture, solution design, and technical roadmaps for ELK and Java platforms.
• Develop data ingestion pipelines with Logstash, custom Elasticsearch indexes, and Kibana dashboards.
• Build and support Java and Spring Boot backend services and REST APIs.
• Investigate Elasticsearch performance bottlenecks and drive architecture improvements.
• Translate architectural decisions into actionable development tasks and lead continuous observability improvements.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, preferably in observability or related fields.
• Strong expertise in Elasticsearch, including complex queries, index design, and cluster management, plus Kibana and Logstash/Beats.
• Extensive Java and Spring Boot experience with backend services and REST API development.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, XL Deploy, and XL Release.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence in an agile environment.
• Fluent English at B2 level or higher and an existing legal right to work in the European Union are required.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring engineers or supporting team growth.
• Knowledge of Angular, Kafka, or PL/SQL.
• Background in financial services and payment systems.
• French at B2 level or higher.
• Software development or agile certifications.
