MassHealth Enrollment Specialist (AI)

Location: Remote, but candidates must be based in Massachusetts; occasional travel to partner community health centers in Massachusetts.

Salary: $30–$40 per hour.

What you will do

• Work one-on-one with MassHealth members by phone and video to complete applications and renewals, gather documents, and resolve eligibility issues.
• Own patient cases from initial contact through completion, including responding to requests for information and contacting MassHealth when needed.
• Support renewal campaigns across community health center partners and keep health center staff informed.
• Explain MassHealth and Health Connector notices and escalate complex cases appropriately.
• Identify recurring enrollment barriers and share insights with product and operations teams.
• Review outreach scripts and workflows while helping build a scalable enrollment-support playbook.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on MassHealth enrollment, eligibility, or benefits experience.
• Current or previous Massachusetts Certified Application Counselor status, with eligibility for redesignation through a partner health center.
• Strong knowledge of MassHealth eligibility rules, coverage types, renewals, requests for information, the Health Connector, and complex edge cases.
• Ability to support patients through stressful or complicated processes with clarity and empathy.
• Experience managing an independent caseload, identifying missing information, and following cases through to completion.
• Must be based in Massachusetts and able to travel occasionally to partner community health centers.

Nice to have

• Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, or Vietnamese language skills.
• Experience at an FQHC, community health center, hospital financial assistance department, or similar safety-net organization.
• Experience with high-volume renewal campaigns or community enrollment events.
• Experience with Epic, eClinicalWorks, athenahealth, or other health center EHRs.
