TL;DR
Staff Product Cybersecurity Engineer (Automotive) (penetration testing, red-team activity, and security research): Identifying and validating vulnerabilities across embedded vehicle software, mobile experiences, backend systems, and product-backed services with an accent on offensive security testing and practical remediation guidance. Focus on researching real-world attack paths, validating exploit impact, and building offensive tooling for complex automotive product environments.

Location: Hybrid in Milford or Warren, Michigan, United States; expected to report to the assigned location at least 3 times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

  • Perform penetration testing across software, systems, and product environments.
  • Conduct security research targeting meaningful risks in embedded vehicle software, mobile experiences, backend systems, and product-backed services.
  • Execute offensive assessments, including red-team activities, across embedded, mobile, and backend environments.
  • Identify vulnerabilities, validate exploitability and impact, and provide risk-ranked remediation guidance.
  • Partner directly with engineering teams to improve product security and the secure SDLC.
  • Strengthen offensive methods, testing approaches, and custom security tooling across the product portfolio.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in penetration testing, product security, security research, or similar roles.
  • Deep expertise in offensive security testing across applications, software, and systems.
  • Experience with penetration testing, red-team activity, vulnerability research, and exploit validation.
  • Familiarity with embedded security, operating system security, application security, and networking.
  • Ability to read and write software in multiple programming languages for investigations and tooling.

Nice to have

  • Automotive security experience or experience in another complex, deadline-driven, regulated industry.
  • Published cybersecurity research, such as conference talks, blog posts, or code repositories.
  • Experience building custom offensive tooling or extending security testing capabilities.
