What you will do
- Lead coverage of the US private credit industry and the firms reshaping corporate finance.
- Build trusted relationships with private credit firms, banks, insurers, law firms, advisers and borrowers.
- Develop exclusive, agenda-setting and market-moving stories from original reporting.
- Cover private credit’s links to insurance, regulation, financial stability and retirement assets.
- Report on leveraged buyouts, AI-related financing, refinancing, restructurings, defaults and creditor disputes.
- Contribute to the Due Diligence newsletter and collaborate with global newsroom colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven ability to break exclusive stories and cultivate deep, trusted source networks.
- Strong news judgement with an eye for scoops and agenda-setting journalism.
- Ability to explain complex financial market concepts clearly to a broad audience.
- Excellent reporting, interviewing and writing skills across breaking news, exclusives and long-form features.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work across teams and international bureaux.
- Availability for weekend shifts as part of the team rota and onsite work at least three days per week.
Nice to have
- Experience covering private credit, leveraged finance, private equity, banking or capital markets.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and its role in private capital.
- Experience contributing to newsletters or audience-focused digital products.
