Focus on transferring case management responsibilities to partner caseworkers, strengthening risk-based practice, and maintaining service quality in complex humanitarian and constrained-access environments.
Location: Based in Kharkiv oblast, Ukraine, with regular travel to partner organizations and field locations in Donetsk oblast. The role initially combines remote mentoring with field visits and may transition to increased in-person support, including up to 50% of time in each oblast subject to security conditions and access approvals. Occasional overnight and weekend travel or work may be required.

What you will do
- Manage protection cases through intake, risk assessment, safety planning, referrals, follow-up, and closure.
- Lead initial shadowing activities and progressively transfer case management responsibilities to partner caseworkers.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, technical guidance, case debriefs, role-play exercises, and reflective practice sessions.
- Review case files, monitor compliance with protection standards and IRC procedures, and escalate quality concerns.
- Develop recommendations, action plans, supervision tools, and capacity-building plans with IRC managers and partners.
- Coordinate with protection, legal, MEAL, advocacy, partner, and service-provider stakeholders while maintaining reports and confidential records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Human Rights, International Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in Protection Case Management.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching, training, and strengthening the capacity of caseworkers.
- Experience with case file reviews, quality assurance, protection standards, safeguarding, PSEA, and accountability to affected populations.
- Humanitarian experience and the ability to work in frontline, hard-to-reach, high-risk, remote, and constrained-access environments.
- Fluency in Ukrainian, both written and spoken, is required. Knowledge of English is an asset.
