Lead Research Scientist (Quantum Computing)

Location: Singapore; hybrid position with at least 3 days in the office. Office-day expectations will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager.

What you will do

• Drive execution of the quantum computing research agenda in Singapore by translating strategic priorities into high-impact research programs and deliverables.
• Design, analyze, implement, and evaluate quantum algorithms, quantum protocols, computational methods, and research prototypes for financial services, payments, and security.
• Lead complex research projects end to end, including technical planning, execution tracking, synthesis of findings, and communication of results.
• Contribute to building the Singapore Quantum Computing Center of Excellence, including research operations, project planning, external engagement, and collaboration models.
• Collaborate with research, technology, product, and business stakeholders, as well as universities, research institutes, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
• Publish findings in top-tier journals and conferences, represent hirify.global at scientific forums, evaluate emerging quantum developments, and provide technical guidance as a senior individual contributor.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 7 years with an Advanced Degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or 13+ years of relevant work experience.
• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of relevant postdoctoral and/or industrial research experience in quantum computing, quantum information, or a closely related area.
• At least 6 years of relevant postdoctoral and/or industrial research experience in quantum computing, quantum information, or a closely related area.
• Strong research track record demonstrated through high-quality publications, patents, and recognized contributions to the quantum research community.
• Deep expertise in one or more of quantum algorithms, quantum optimization, quantum machine learning, quantum cryptography, quantum error correction, quantum systems or architectures, and quantum information theory.
• Experience designing quantum computing approaches for finance, payments, security, or other complex enterprise domains.
• Hands-on experience implementing, simulating, and evaluating algorithms, including experience with quantum hardware where applicable.
• Ability to drive research programs with strong operational discipline, including project planning, coordination, and cross-functional execution; collaborate across academia, industry, or government research organizations; communicate technical work to technical and business stakeholders; and operate effectively while building a new research capability.

Nice to have

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, 8–10 years with an Advanced Degree, or 6+ years with a PhD.
• Experience with multi-institution or cross-functional research program management.
