Lead Research Scientist, Quantum Computing

Location: Singapore; hybrid position with at least 3 days in the office. Office-day expectations will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager.

What you will do

• Drive execution of the quantum computing research agenda in Singapore by translating strategic priorities into high-impact research programs and deliverables.
• Design, implement, analyze, and evaluate quantum algorithms, protocols, computational methods, and prototypes for financial services, payments, and security.
• Lead complex research projects end to end, including technical planning, execution tracking, synthesis of findings, and communication of results.
• Help establish the Singapore Quantum Computing Center of Excellence through research operations, project planning, collaboration models, and cross-team coordination.
• Collaborate with research, technology, product, business, academic, industry, and government stakeholders in Singapore and internationally.
• Publish findings in leading journals and conferences, represent hirify.global at scientific forums, and assess emerging quantum computing developments.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 7 years with an advanced degree, or 4 years with a PhD; preferred experience levels are higher.
• At least 4 years of relevant postdoctoral or industrial research experience in quantum computing, quantum information, or a closely related area; the posting also lists 6+ years as a preferred qualification.
• Strong research record demonstrated through high-quality publications, patents, and recognized contributions to the quantum research community.
• Deep expertise in quantum algorithms, optimization, machine learning, cryptography, error correction, quantum systems or architectures, or quantum information theory.
• Hands-on experience implementing, simulating, and evaluating quantum algorithms, plus the ability to manage cross-functional research programs and communicate with technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience applying quantum computing to finance, payments, security, or other complex enterprise domains.
• Experience with quantum hardware.
• Experience collaborating across academia, industry, or government research organizations.
• Experience with multi-institution or cross-functional research program management.
