Staff Software Engineer (Security)

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Security): Building and advancing identity platform applications, SaaS services, APIs, and automation frameworks with an accent on IAM, cloud-native security, and secure software architecture. Focus on designing CI/CD security integrations, developing microservices, conducting threat modeling, and responding to complex identity and security incidents.

Location: Hybrid role based in Austin, Texas, or Warren, Michigan; on-site attendance is required at least three times per week. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship or support for work authorization.

What you will do

• Design and develop security-focused software solutions, tools, and automation frameworks.
• Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native environments using APIs and web services.
• Develop and maintain identity-focused APIs, microservices, monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and audit teams to embed security into system architecture.
• Conduct code reviews, threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and forensic investigations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on identity architecture, implementation, management, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience administering, configuring, and supporting IAM products such as Entra ID, Okta, and SailPoint.
• Advanced experience designing, developing, and implementing CI/CD and API pipelines.
• Advanced Java proficiency plus experience with Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker, Kubernetes, SaaS, SQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
• Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, encryption, secure coding, communication, and Agile delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience modeling and deploying external identity architectures.
• Experience with customer-facing AI automations and workflows.
• Experience with Databricks, Microsoft, or Google products.
• Frontend application development experience.
