TL;DR

Software Engineer, Networking & Linux Systems (Automotive Networking/Linux): Building and hardening the networking, connectivity, and embedded Linux foundation for autonomous vehicles and delivery robots with an accent on Automotive Ethernet, TSN, PTP/gPTP synchronization, and cellular connectivity. Focus on tuning high-throughput Linux networking, debugging across kernels, drivers, and hardware, and developing Go and Python daemons for fleet-scale observability and failover.

Location: Austin, Texas; on-site/hybrid at the Austin facility. Remote work is not available, and candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What you will do

Architect and optimize fault-tolerant internal networks connecting compute nodes, controllers, LiDARs, and cameras.
Design and maintain vehicle-wide time synchronization using PTP and IEEE 802.1AS/gPTP.
Configure and troubleshoot managed automotive and industrial switches, VLAN segmentation, and Automotive Ethernet.
Build cellular bonding and failover mechanisms across multiple LTE/5G carriers.
Develop Go and Python system software, telemetry agents, and connectivity daemons for x86_64 and ARM64 platforms.
Integrate networking components with custom embedded Linux deployments and build monitoring for fleet connectivity health.

Requirements

Strong system-level software development experience with deep Linux systems and networking expertise.
Advanced knowledge of IP routing, VLANs, firewalling with nftables or iptables, and packet troubleshooting with tcpdump or Wireshark.
Professional experience with Go and Python, plus the ability to read and understand C/C++ for driver and kernel debugging.
Experience debugging across user-space code, Linux kernels, drivers, and physical hardware interfaces.
Must be based in or work on-site/hybrid from Austin, Texas, and be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

Automotive Ethernet, TSN, PTP, ptp4l, or hardware timestamping experience.
Embedded hardware debugging with serial consoles, JTAG, I2C, or SPI on ARM64 platforms.
Real-time Linux tuning, cgroups, CPU pinning, and scheduling-priority experience.
Familiarity with Nix and NixOS.
