What you will do
- Architect and optimize fault-tolerant internal networks linking on-board compute nodes and high-bandwidth sensors.
- Design and ensure the reliability of vehicle-wide time synchronization using PTP / IEEE 802.1AS (gPTP).
- Configure and troubleshoot automotive/industrial switches, VLAN segmentation, and Automotive Ethernet.
- Build robust failover mechanisms and network bonding frameworks for multi-carrier 5G telemetry.
- Tune low-level Linux networking parameters, including NIC buffers and hardware offloads, for high-throughput performance.
- Develop system-level software, telemetry agents, and daemons in Go and Python for x86_64 and ARM64 platforms.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with IP routing, VLANs, firewalling, and packet troubleshooting tools like tcpdump and Wireshark.
- Proficiency in programming with Go and Python.
- Ability to debug complex problems across user-space, Linux kernels, drivers, and physical hardware interfaces.
- Must be based in Austin, TX, as the role requires close collaboration with hardware and lab tools.
- Must have valid U.S. work authorization.
Nice to have
- Experience with Automotive Ethernet and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN).
- Expertise in PTP implementation and hardware timestamping in distributed systems.
- Comfort using lab tools such as serial consoles, JTAG, and I2C/SPI.
- Experience with real-time OS tuning, cgroups, and CPU pinning.
- Familiarity with the Nix/NixOS ecosystem.
