What you will do

• Define and own the security strategy, maturity roadmap, budget and investment priorities.
• Report security posture, risk and investment cases to the CTO, executive team and board.
• Lead IT Operations and build the security engineering team, beginning with a Principal Security Engineer.
• Own security tooling, cloud security across AWS, incident response and breach management.
• Run governance, risk and compliance activities, including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials and GDPR readiness.
• Secure AI agents, internal AI platforms, data boundaries, permissions, sandboxing and third-party AI tooling.

Requirements

• 10+ years of security experience, including 3+ years leading a security function or team with budget and hiring responsibility.
• Experience building or significantly maturing a security function.
• Strong technical expertise in AWS security, EDR, SIEM, identity and cloud security.
• Direct ownership of GRC programmes, policies, control frameworks, risk registers and security audits.
• Experience leading company-level security incident response and managing senior security or IT Operations professionals.
• Ability to communicate about risk with executives and discuss detection logic and architecture with senior engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience in iGaming, fintech or another heavily regulated industry, especially UKGC regulation.
• Experience securing AI or LLM systems, including agent architectures and model access controls.
• Application or product security experience in a platform business.
• Senior certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CCISO.
