Clinical Genomics Scientist (Report Writing)

What you will do

• Curate variants, genes, and gene-disease relationships according to ACMG guidelines.
• Analyze clinical genomics data and select variants for curation or confirmation.
• Apply HGVS standards for variant nomenclature.
• Draft clinical reports and communicate complex genetic findings clearly.
• Support test validation, software platform validation, process refinement, and turnaround-time monitoring.
• Collaborate with laboratory directors, clinicians, genetic counselors, bioinformatics specialists, and R&D teams.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and able to work remotely from a home office.
• Board certification as a Genetic Counselor is preferred, or a PhD/MD in clinical medicine, genetics, molecular biology, or a related field.
• Two to four years of experience in clinical genomics or a related field, including postdoctoral experience where applicable.
• Thorough understanding of ACMG variant curation guidelines and genomic variation in human disease.
• Experience assessing data quality and communicating genetic information in medical writing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• At least three years of patient-facing genetic counseling experience, including test ordering, clinical documentation, patient resource development, and report interpretation.
• Experience with variant interpretation or curation.
• Experience with bioinformatics analysis, variant effect prediction algorithms, or scripting languages.
• Experience developing or refining SOPs, improving workflows, supporting quality initiatives, mentoring junior scientists, or overseeing complex variant interpretation cases.
