What you will do
- Design excitation maneuvers and fit airframe models from flight data with quantified error bounds.
- Develop inner rate and attitude loops through outer position loops using gain scheduling and automated tuning.
- Maintain high-fidelity in-house simulators to ensure seamless sim-to-real control transfer.
- Integrate aerodynamic stability derivatives and coefficient tables into functional flight control systems.
- Verify control performance across simulation, SITL, and HITL environments, including Monte Carlo campaigns.
- Mentor junior control and GNC engineers on best practices and technical execution.
Requirements
- Degree in aerospace, controls, robotics, or a related STEM field.
- Proven hands-on experience with system identification and control on multirotor or fixed-wing platforms.
- Depth in at least one of MPC, INDI, or geometric control.
- Experience with real-time control implementation on constrained embedded targets.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning and simulation-based training.
- Ability to present complex control and test results clearly to technical and senior stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with multi-airframe systems.
- Experience with hover-to-cruise transition flight dynamics.
