Mission Software Engineer (Robotics)

TL;DR

Mission Software Engineer (Robotics/Autonomy): Developing and deploying autonomy software for military and commercial systems across sea, air, and land with an accent on systems integration, networking, and robotics. Focus on owning the full software lifecycle from development to real-world field deployment in contested environments.

Location: Must be based in the San Diego, CA area or willing to relocate; onsite presence is required.

Salary: $150,000 – $185,000 + Equity & Bonus

What you will do

• Own and deliver software solutions deployed to customers to meet mission objectives.
• Develop software to enhance product capabilities for specific operational needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
• Create performance metrics for debugging and monitoring deployed systems.
• Troubleshoot root causes of system issues and coordinate technical resolutions.
• Partner with end-users to translate operational needs into technical features.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
• 3+ years of experience with C++, Python, or Rust in a Linux development environment.
• Experience building software solutions involving significant data processing and analysis.
• Must be a United States citizen and eligible for US Clearance.
• Must be based in the San Diego, CA area or willing to relocate.

Nice to have

• Experience developing multi-agent autonomous systems for real-world scenarios.
• Familiarity with robotics frameworks such as ROS or MOOS-IvP.
• Experience with flight systems, safety-critical software, or hardware integration.
• Understanding of distributed communication networks and military operational tactics.
