TL;DR

Data Lead (AI/SQL): Building a comprehensive data foundation and canonical models to power commercial products, government platforms, and AI agents with an accent on identity resolution and data governance. Focus on structuring data for LLM legibility, integrating state-mandated data hubs, and automating data workflows using AI agents.

Location: In-person in San Francisco, California (5-6 days a week)

What you will do

• Build a canonical data model across BigQuery, HubSpot, Stripe, and product databases to create a single source of truth.
• Structure data for AI agent consumption via entity tables, snapshots, and pre-computed briefings.
• Manage data delivery for state government platforms, including bi-directional Data Hub sync and legacy migrations.
• Lead identity resolution and deduplication efforts across legacy state systems.
• Define and document core business metrics to enable self-service for operations and provider success teams.
• Establish data quality standards, monitoring, alerting, and governance for sensitive government data.

Requirements

• Experience as an early data hire at a startup.
• Proven track record in regulated environments such as govtech, healthtech, or fintech.
• Expertise in writing dbt models and managing data governance agreements.
• Hands-on experience with complex entity resolution and deduplication work.
• Daily usage of AI agents to multiply productivity and understanding of data legibility for LLMs.
• Must be based in San Francisco for in-person work.
