Resident Engineer (Juniper Networks)

Location: Onsite at an HPE partner/customer office in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States.

Salary: Annual base salary of USD 84,400–194,200 in North Carolina; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day post-sales operational support for production and pre-production Charter Communications network environments.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues across large-scale IP/MPLS infrastructures, including critical incidents and outages.
• Open and drive Juniper JTAC cases to resolution, perform root cause analysis, and define corrective actions.
• Support network architecture, capacity planning, upgrades, migrations, maintenance windows, and technology adoption.
• Conduct technical and operational workshops, produce network health and project reports, and train Charter engineering, implementation, and operations teams.
• Test and integrate new hardware and software releases, maintain diagnostic procedures and operational documentation, and develop Python-based automation for configuration validation, health checks, troubleshooting, and provisioning.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on design, deployment, and operational experience in large-scale service provider or MSO networks.
• Experience supporting major network transformations, upgrades, or expansions.
• Strong experience with JUNOS CLI and large-scale hands-on experience with MX, QFX, EX, ACX, and PTX platforms.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv4, IPv6, BGP routing policy and peering, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN, Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, QoS, and Class of Service.
• Hands-on scripting experience with Python and Juniper PyEZ.
• Ability to design automation solutions that integrate with existing operational workflows.
• Excellent communication skills during high-pressure outage and escalation scenarios, including the ability to present complex technical topics to engineering, operations, and executive audiences.
• Strong customer-facing, collaborative, and consultative skills.
• Ability to translate business and technical requirements into practical, scalable network solutions.
• Expert-level technical certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIE are strongly valued.
