People Specialist (HR Specialist)

Location: Cape Town, South Africa; onsite leadership team role with later working hours to align with global operations

Salary: R600,000–R800,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Shape local workplace culture and lead employee engagement, retention, events, volunteering initiatives, and local perks.
• Advise managers and employees on investigations, disciplinary and performance management processes, grievances, mediation, and employee relations risks.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and represent hirify.global at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
• Manage onboarding, offboarding, benefits, leave administration, statutory reporting, external providers, and local HR procedures.
• Develop South Africa-specific HR policies, SOPs, and health and safety policies aligned with global standards.
• Design and deliver training for global managers on South African employment law, cultural considerations, and local employee relations practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labour Law, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including experience in a global or multinational organization.
• Proven experience representing employers at CCMA with successful outcomes.
• Practical knowledge of South African employment legislation and case law, including the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and Employment Equity Act.
• Specific experience supporting managers in the United States and working across diverse, multicultural environments.
• Strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, training, HRIS, MS Office, and Google Suite skills; comfortable working non-traditional hours.

Nice to have

• HR certification such as SABPP or CPHR SA.
