Software Engineer (C#/Java)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (C#/Java): Developing and modernizing critical claims communication and processing systems with an accent on migrating legacy on-premises and mainframe environments to cloud solutions. Focus on optimizing enterprise integration, ensuring system reliability, and managing high-availability claims data.

Location: Remote (USA). Must be based in the US (no sponsorship available) and must be able to visit Chattanooga, TN for the final interview.

A major health insurance provider focused on providing comprehensive healthcare coverage and claims processing services.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and integrate complex information systems for claims communication between plans.
• Migrate legacy on-premises and mainframe applications to modern cloud-based solutions.
• Optimize application performance regarding capacity, response time, and functional requirements.
• Perform coding, testing, debugging, and documentation for programs and scripts.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior analysts and programmers.
• Participate in a system on-call rotation approximately every five weeks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of systems and programming experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# or Java.
• Experience with SQL-based databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or IBM DB2.
• Strong understanding of XML and JSON data formats.
• Ability to support core Eastern Time (ET) business hours (8am-5pm ET).

Nice to have

• Experience with MQ Series or other enterprise messaging platforms.
• Prior professional experience in the health insurance industry.
• Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment using Azure DevOps.
