Software Engineer II (Fullstack)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid for Lisbon-based employees and fully remote for those outside Lisbon.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve fullstack applications using React, TypeScript, Kotlin, Python, and Ruby.
• Architect and develop scalable APIs and microservices deployed on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Own complex features from design through production operation, improving reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, technical strategy, secure coding, and identity and cryptographic systems.
• Build identity verification capabilities including Proof of Address, AML checks, eKYC integrations, eID integrations, and digital identity services.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams while mentoring engineers through reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in fullstack or software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, plus Python, Kotlin, or Ruby.
• Experience designing distributed systems and scalable architectures, and operating cloud-based APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, agile development, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of system design, performance, reliability, software security, and privacy by design.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions through strong communication.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, SAML, or OpenID Connect.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Ruby on Rails.
• Understanding of privacy regulations and their technical implications.
• Experience building secure SDKs or developer platforms.
