What you will do

• Scale fleet operations across hundreds of Debian/Ubuntu systems to ensure reliable growth.
• Improve the reliability and safety of system upgrades, rollbacks, and provisioning.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues involving package management, storage, boot processes, and kernel behavior.
• Design, build, and maintain automation to reduce operational toil and ensure consistent deployments.
• Review and extend infrastructure and deployment code to enhance system scalability.
• Improve fleet observability, monitoring, and overall operational visibility.

Requirements

• Deep Debian/Ubuntu expertise and strong Linux fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of package management, system services, storage, and kernel behavior.
• Excellent troubleshooting and first-principles debugging skills.
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation.
• Software engineering fundamentals with the ability to write and review production automation code.
• Must be based in Washington, DC, USA.

Nice to have

• Linux certifications such as LFCS, LFCE, RHCSA, or RHCE.
• Experience with Terraform and public cloud platforms like AWS or OCI.
• Experience operating on-premises, air-gapped, or bare-metal environments.
• Familiarity with Debian packaging, repository management, or Linux networking.
• Arm64 or cross-architecture experience.
