What you will do

• Mentor software teams on modern engineering practices like trunk-based development and automated testing.
• Identify and eliminate friction in development workflows to improve overall Developer Experience (DevEx).
• Optimize large-scale build and CI/CD environments to ensure fast and reliable feedback loops.
• Collaborate with embedded and infrastructure teams on transitioning to a managed, image-based Base OS.
• Define engineering standards and track success using data-driven metrics such as DORA.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and blameless learning.

Requirements

• Strong experience managing or architecting build systems for large, polyglot codebases.
• Deep practical knowledge of building and operating robust CI/CD pipelines and developer tools.
• Solid grasp of Linux-based systems, networking, and deployment automation.
• Experience defining and rolling out engineering standards and measuring developer velocity.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams through empathy.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in Gilching, Germany.

Nice to have

• Deep experience with Bazel.
• Experience with modern OS compilation or image-based provisioning (e.g., Yocto, Nix/NixOS, systemd-mkosi).
• Familiarity with cloud-native systems and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
