What you will do

• Review and optimize SQL Server database design, indexes, and queries to improve system performance.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and operational risks within the database layer.
• Assess the feasibility and plan the migration strategy from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
• Implement comprehensive database observability and performance monitoring, including wait statistics and deadlock detection.
• Utilize Specification-Driven Development (SDD) frameworks like OpenSpec to structure requirements and ensure traceability.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL to evaluate migration compatibility and risks.
• Proven experience refactoring databases for legacy applications in production environments.
• Ability to define and implement database observability baselines and diagnostics.
• Must be located in the EU region and possess a valid work permit.

Nice to have

• Experience with legacy 4GL or transpiled/generated codebases.
• Familiarity with .NET/Blazor application ecosystems.
• Experience with database-heavy ERP systems in payroll, billing, or scheduling domains.
