Staff Software Engineer (Platform)

Location: Kitchener, Canada (opportunity to be based in Vancouver or Kitchener offices)

Salary: $194,500–$226,750 CAD (Ontario base salary range)

What you will do

• Define a 1–3 year roadmap/vision for Shared Services.
• Write clear architectural design documents for shared services platformization.
• Estimate technical resources and requirements to plan and start projects.
• Drive execution of shared-services platformization projects and ensure delivery milestones are met.
• Develop well-tested backend features with test hooks to reduce defects and increase engineering throughput.
• Act as a technical expert for a product area: propose solutions, review designs, and present internal demos.

Requirements

• Experienced backend-focused software engineer with a track record of turning business objectives into software systems.
• Deep experience architecting complex systems across multiple roles.
• Strong experience with distributed systems and debugging/troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with highly agile and iterative development processes.
• Mentoring experience for engineers and helping them grow.
