Software Development Engineer (Backend)

What you will do

• Design, code, review, and maintain high-scale distributed services within AWS production environments.
• Take technical ownership of designs and influence coding practices among peers.
• Implement innovative technical solutions to increase product selection and improve the global customer buying experience.
• Research and resolve complex issues within the Selection Contribution Platform.
• Collaborate on the ingestion and processing of data from millions of external contributors and internal systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
• Experience building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (SOA).
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and Big O analysis.
• Ability to design for high performance, scalability, and availability.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience across the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including source control and build processes.
• Proven track record of leading the delivery of complex software systems to customers.
• Experience mentoring junior software engineers.
• Hands-on expertise across the full stack, from frontend interfaces to backend systems.
