Postdoc in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Department of Quantum Nanoscience, TU Delft

Location: Delft, Netherlands. The position may require relocation to the Netherlands.

Salary: €3,706–€5,760 per month in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

What you will do

• Investigate electronic structure and spin-orbit and scalar relativistic effects in lanthanide-containing molecular and periodic systems.
• Apply equation-of-motion coupled-cluster methods to describe electron correlation in molecular magnets and quantum materials.
• Use two-step state-interaction treatment of spin-orbit coupling and SFX2C-1e for scalar relativistic effects.
• Link EOM-CC with SFX2C-1e and validate the accuracy against benchmarks such as PtH.
• Extend the approach to systems embedded in point charges and periodic DFT environments.
• Supervise Master's and PhD students and contribute to grant writing and applications.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong background in electronic structure methods and molecular simulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and scientific programming skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary research teams.
• Interest in supervising students and contributing to research proposals.

Nice to have

• Experience with post-Hartree-Fock methods, especially coupled-cluster and EOM-CC.
• Experience with quantum embedding strategies.
• Knowledge of heavy-metal or lanthanide chemistry, spin-orbit coupling, and scalar relativistic effects.
