Structural Modelling Engineer (Li-ion Batteries)

Verkor's Product Design Engineering function develops structural and thermo-mechanical engineering solutions for Li-ion battery cells, modules, packs, and components.

What you will do

• Develop structural finite-element models for Li-ion battery cells, modules, packs, and associated components.
• Mesh complex 3D CAD designs and run structural and thermo-mechanical simulations covering shock, vibration, crash, durability, and static and dynamic events.
• Build surrogate and reduced-order models to accelerate design exploration.
• Validate simulation models against physical test results and document correlation assumptions, limitations, and confidence levels.
• Develop characterization methods, analysis workflows, and design optimization approaches with product design engineers.
• Lead technical investigations, prepare diagnostic analyses and progress updates, support design reviews, and contribute to intellectual property development.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Specialized knowledge of structural mechanics, strength of materials, thermal engineering, and thermo-mechanical behavior.
• 10+ years of experience in structural and thermal modeling, finite-element analysis, and model validation preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD, meshing, mathematical modeling, numerical methods, and model order reduction techniques.
• Proficiency in scientific coding with Python and/or Matlab, plus experience with 3DEXPERIENCE, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, or equivalent simulation platforms.
• English proficiency is required. Experience with hands-on laboratory activities, physical test interpretation, and project management is also required.

Nice to have

• French language proficiency.
• Experience identifying material models and reviewing scientific and technical literature.
