PhD Position Sensing Viscosity with Ultrasound

Location: hirify.global, Delft, Netherlands; relocation to the Netherlands is expected where needed

Salary: €3,204–€4,051 gross per month, increasing from the first to the fourth year based on a full-time contract of 38 hours per week

What you will do

• Research ultrasound sensors and the viscosity of fluid flows.
• Develop novel measurement strategies and methods for ultrasonic flow sensing.
• Build quantitatively validated models of ultrasonic flow sensors.
• Design and operate an experimental sensing platform.
• Characterize propagation loss, quality factors, travel speed, resonance behavior, and optimal excitation frequencies for improved signal-to-noise ratios.
• Write a doctoral dissertation, publish peer-reviewed research, present at international conferences, and supervise master students.

Requirements

• MSc degree in mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field.
• Experience with modeling, experiments, and design.
• Ability to conduct, organize, and execute independent research.
• Creative, self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team.
• English proficiency is required for communication, English-taught doctoral courses, scientific articles, and the final thesis.
