Salary: $118,800 - $187,000 USD

What you will do
- Develop ML models for polymers, elastomers, gels, hot-melts, adhesives, and other soft materials.
- Build representations connecting formulation variables, processing history, morphology, and end-use properties.
- Create structure-property models using experimental, simulation, rheological, and thermal datasets.
- Design active learning workflows to prioritize physical formulation experiments based on lab constraints.
- Develop tools to help scientists interpret material data and prioritize composition or processing decisions.
- Partner with experimental teams to align models with measurement workflows and performance requirements.
Requirements
- PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, applied mathematics, or related field (or Master's with equivalent experience).
- Experience applying machine learning to scientific, materials-focused, or polymer problems.
- Domain expertise in polymer science, elastomers, rheology, or soft matter physics.
- Strong Python skills and experience with modern ML frameworks.
- Ability to use simulations and mechanistic understanding to inform modeling choices.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with experimental data from adhesives, composites, powders, or semi-solids.
- Familiarity with cure- or processing-aware representations for material datasets.
- Background in active learning systems that close the loop with high-throughput experimentation.
- Hands-on experimental or computational experience in soft material formulation domains.
