What you will do

  • Develop machine learning models for complex fluid systems like colloids, emulsions, and polymers.
  • Design active learning workflows to prioritize high-value experiments and formulation decisions.
  • Build structure-property models connecting composition, microstructure, and bulk fluid behavior.
  • Incorporate mesoscale and continuum simulation outputs to improve model prediction and interpretation.
  • Create tools to help scientists interpret complex fluid data and prioritize development paths.
  • Partner with experimental teams to align computational models with physical measurement workflows.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, applied mathematics, or related field (or Master's with equivalent experience).
  • Domain expertise in soft matter, colloids, rheology, interfacial science, or formulation science.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with modern machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience training and improving models using experimental or scientific datasets.
  • Ability to bridge domain context with computational execution.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Experience with active learning over continuous compositional spaces.
  • Familiarity with coarse-grained molecular dynamics, dissipative particle dynamics, or CFD.
  • Hands-on experimental experience in complex fluid formulation.
  • Experience modeling thermophysical properties for heat-transfer applications.
