Salary: $405,000 - $485,000 USD

What you will do

• Develop a 0→1 AI workbench (Claude Science) for researchers to consolidate disconnected scientific tools.
• Collaborate with academic and industry scientists to translate research needs into engineering priorities.
• Partner with product and design to implement end-to-end scientific workflows from hypothesis to publication.
• Work with research teams to improve model capabilities and evaluate failure modes in real-world scientific use cases.
• Shape the technical architecture and product roadmap for a new category of AI-driven scientific software.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years in a Staff or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Proven track record of building AI products from 0 to 1 in fast-moving environments.
• Ability to drive cross-team alignment and influence without direct authority.
• Must be based in or able to work in San Francisco, CA (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Background in chemistry, biology, physics, or other sciences.
• Experience working with research teams to improve domain-specific model capabilities and evaluation frameworks.
