Senior Thermal Design Engineer (Spacecraft Thermal Systems)

What you will do

• Own the development, implementation, and testing of active and passive spacecraft thermal control systems.
• Design pump fluid loops, heat pipes, heaters, cooling systems, and supporting ground equipment.
• Plan and execute thermal-cycle and thermal-vacuum testing campaigns.
• Set up, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot test stands, instrumentation, and integrated electrical and mechanical hardware.
• Develop data acquisition systems, control scripts, and hardware-in-the-loop tests for thermal systems and components.
• Prepare test procedures, reports, operating procedures, and presentations of analyzed test data.

Requirements

• 5+ years of thermal testing experience in a high-rate manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of experience sizing and testing fluid systems, including pumps, valves, accumulators, heat exchangers, and cold plates.
• Strong experience with thermal and thermal-vacuum testing, including setup, instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with data acquisition for thermal and power applications and with test-plan development and execution.
• Knowledge of NX or AutoCAD for test-fixture design is preferred.
• Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status under ITAR or eligibility for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with basic and statistical data analysis.
• Experience with Thermal Desktop, signal conditioning, pump testing, avionics testing, or refrigeration-system testing.
