What you will do

• Analyze SQL Server schemas, stored procedures, and indexes to identify performance bottlenecks and locking issues.
• Refactor and optimize poorly written SQL queries and stored procedures to improve maintainability.
• Implement indexing strategies, query plans, and partitioning using tools like SQL Profiler and DMVs.
• Rationalize redundant or obsolete database objects and simplify complex table relationships.
• Define and implement database standards and governance procedures.
• Educate development teams on SQL best practices and performant query writing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server (2016+).
• Proven track record in performance tuning and troubleshooting deadlocks and query bottlenecks.
• Deep expertise in T-SQL, indexing strategies, and execution plans.
• Experience in reverse engineering large-scale legacy stored procedure logic.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with data modeling and schema redesign.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Redgate, SolarWinds, or SQL Sentry.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for database changes.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
