Staff Software Engineer

Location: Livingston, NJ / New York, NY / Sunnyvale, CA / San Francisco, CA / Bellevue, WA

Salary: $207,000–$275,000 (base)

What you will do

• Take end-to-end ownership of reliability and performance for a Kubernetes-based data platform.
• Architect and operate highly available, geo-replicated active-active multi-region systems with strict uptime and latency targets.
• Scale infrastructure and optimize deployment pipelines.
• Strengthen security posture across cloud-native environments.
• Build, test, and manage scalable production-ready systems, including incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Own full-stack observability (metrics, logging, distributed tracing) and define SLI/SLO/SLA with error budget management.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or building highly scalable distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes cluster design, operations, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience operating data platforms or data-intensive workloads (e.g., Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Flink).
• Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Argo CD, GitHub Actions).
• Hands-on experience designing and operating multi-region distributed systems with failover and data consistency tradeoffs.
• Strong observability and infrastructure-as-code skills (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Helm/Terraform/Pulumi).

Nice to have

• Experience in compliance-driven environments (GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, SOX).
• Background building internal developer platforms or self-service infrastructure tooling.
