What you will do

• Own the backend by designing, building, and deploying robust, scalable, high-performance Java services.
• Serve data through GraphQL with efficient data fetching, query optimization, and clean frontend integration.
• Architect for scale using Kafka to build event-driven solutions for reactivity and reliability.
• Maintain full visibility across the backend ecosystem and understand how services integrate in distributed infrastructure.
• Ship with AI by using LLM and agentic tools to move fast while keeping total ownership of generated code.
• Solve hard scheduling/time problems and translate complex requirements into clean technical solutions with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Experience designing, developing, and shipping production-ready, highly concurrent backend services in Java.
• Strong systems-level thinking: ability to read, debug, and understand multi-language codebases.
• Practical experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be based in Germany and have full right to work; no visa sponsorship or relocation support.

Nice to have

• Advanced experience with AI-assisted engineering workflows (Specs, Loops, agentic tools) for backend testing, generation, and architecture validation.
• Deep knowledge of reactive programming models, cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience designing and serving APIs, ideally GraphQL.
• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed system design).
