Senior/Staff Security Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; based anywhere in the continental US. Optional hybrid work in San Francisco or New York.

Salary: $190,000–$260,000 base annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own security problems end to end, from identifying meaningful risks through building and shipping solutions.
• Develop secure-by-default libraries, guardrails, and internal tooling for engineering teams.
• Define and implement least-privilege controls across services handling sensitive patient information and health metrics.
• Harden developer machines against supply-chain attacks and emerging AI-related threats.
• Partner with compliance to convert control objectives into practical security controls.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience delivering production-grade code.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, Go, C#, or a similar programming language.
• Strong security expertise in threat modeling, identity and authentication flows, the OWASP Top 10, cloud security, and supply-chain security.
• Demonstrated ability to close security risks and make organizations measurably safer.
• Ability to work remotely from within the United States.

Nice to have

• Healthcare experience and knowledge of HIPAA and HITRUST.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and modern product stacks.
• Experience building internal developer platforms or secure-by-default tooling.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, product-oriented startup.
