Postdoctoral Researcher (Urban Data Science)

What you will do

• Define spatial and temporal metrics using sensor-based data and human-centered behavioral mapping.
• Develop harmonized data collection and analysis protocols aligned with GDPR and FAIR data principles.
• Implement multi-phase measurements across pilot sites in Bratislava, Espoo, Rotterdam, and Tirana.
• Conduct comparative analyses of walkability, accessibility, perceived safety, and social cohesion.
• Translate research findings into scientific publications and the interactive ROUTES Atlas.
• Collaborate within an international, interdisciplinary consortium of 16 organizations.

Requirements

• PhD in urban design, urban planning, urban data science, geography, environmental psychology, or a related field.
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative monitoring, evaluation, and data collection in urban contexts.
• Proficiency in spatial data analysis, GIS, sensor-based mobility data, or behavioral mapping.
• Strong analytical skills for integrating heterogeneous data sources.
• Excellent written and spoken English (C1+).
• Ability to work in an international consortium and travel occasionally to European pilot sites.

• Proven track record of publishing in top-tier journals and conferences.
• Experience disseminating research to non-academic audiences such as designers, planners, and policymakers.
