PhD Position Metaoptics (Space Applications)

Location: Must be based in or relocate to Delft, Netherlands

Salary: €3,059–€3,881 gross per month

What you will do

• Design and manufacture photonic crystal-based spectropolarimetric filter arrays.
• Integrate photonic crystals with detector technologies.
• Conduct experimental and theoretical research in nanooptics.
• Perform optical testing and characterization of developed instruments.
• Collaborate with SRON Space Research Organisation Netherlands on experimental tasks.
• Contribute to the development of compact, high-performance satellite-based imaging systems.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Nanotechnology, or Engineering.
• Knowledge of nanooptics, photonic crystals, inverse design, and imaging systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical characterization or nanofabrication.
• Background in computational imaging or detector technology.
• Knowledge of semiconductor devices or optoelectronics.
